Do I decide who my patients are within SkriptMD?
Yes. You are not obliged to accept any patient. When a Patient creates an account they will request a certain doctor but that doctor can choose to Accept or Decline the patient request. The doctor can accept or decline a new patient at their own discretion.
How do I bill for eConsults on SkriptMD?
SkriptMD does not provide Health Card Number (HCN) verification nor Billing services for virtual visits.
Please use your office Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software to verify HCN and Bill eConsult visits.
SkriptMD provides a low-cost platform for patients to connect with their doctors online by requesting virtual consults or prescription renewals.
Can I edit medications and quantities dispensed within a Prescription?
Yes. You can refuse to renew any particular medication altogether within a Prescription. You can also edit the quantity being dispensed. For example, you could reduce the amount of pills from 60 requested by the patient to just 20 that the pharmacist will dispense.
Is SkriptMD available to all Doctors in Canada?
Yes. SkriptMD can be used anywhere in Canada but was developed in Ontario.
Patients should ideally link with a Doctor and Pharmacy from their own Province so that prescriptions are accepted.
Is the SkriptMD portal PHIPA compliant?
Yes. The web hosting company is PHIPA compliant and the health information custodian is a Medical Doctor registered in Ontario with the CPSO.
Is there a method to check for medication interactions?
Yes. There is integration with Drug Bank within SkriptMD to check for medication interactions. This is in accordance with new CPSO guidelines for Prescribing Drugs Policy
What about Controlled Substances such as narcotics?
Controlled Substances can be dispensed from an electronic prescription but the patient must add an OHIP number or DLN (Driver’s License Number) to their profile which will show on the prescription. There is a Controlled Substances Agreement (CSA) within SkriptMD that the doctor should request the patient to accept.
How do I sign the Prescriptions?
You sign the prescription with your finger along the signature line at the bottom. The signature does not have match exactly each time since the document is digitally encrypted and securely transmitted via the Portal. Additionally, each doctor has been verified by the administrator.
Will the pharmacy accept this prescription?
Yes. Pharmacies that are signed up with SkriptMD will accept this prescription. Prescriptions transmitted via a secure Portal such as SkriptMD are valid according to the College of Pharmacists of Ontario guidelines
How will I get paid for these services?
Virtual consults will be billed on your own EMR software so the doctor keeps all the funds.
Doctors will also get paid annually on a revenue sharing model based on the number of their patient subscribers.
Do I set up my own schedule on SkriptMD?
Yes. You choose which days and hours that you want to be available for patient consultations.
Schedules are easy to set up and can be done in less than a minute.
Is the Virtual Consult secure on SkriptMD?
Yes. SkriptMD uses Twilio API which is encrypted. No written data or texting is transmitted during the virtual visit so privacy is secured.
